The Long Haul

COVID-19 Update

Maryland Residents

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan issued a stay-home directive statewide amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The executive order takes effect at 8 p.m. Monday. Anyone who violates the order will be guilty of a misdemeanor of up to one year in prison and/or a fine of up to $5,000.

"This virus is spreading rapidly and exponentially," Hogan said. "We are no longer asking or suggesting that Marylanders stay home, we are directing them to do so." Hogan said the state has reached a critical turning point. As of Monday morning, there are 1,413 confirmed coronavirus cases in Maryland and 15 deaths. There have been as many as 13,316 negative test results.

We are in this for the long haul.

"But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed." James 1:4-8 KJV

With each passing day, we are learning of increased numbers of confirmed cases and it is vitally important that everyone practice self-care and stay home. Unfortunately, many people have not taken this crisis seriously and continued to host parties, social events and ignored the practice of physical distancing. For many of us, this Stay at Home order in MD will not mean anything different. The big difference is now they can hold people accountable - The executive order takes effect at 8 p.m. Monday(today). Anyone who violates the order will be guilty of a misdemeanor of up to one year in prison and/or a fine of up to $5,000. Many other states such as NJ, PA, and NY have similar Stay At Home orders.

Loneliness

For the last couple of days, I became more aware of the fact that I am physically alone. Not lonely, but physically alone. I know that I am not alone in feeling physically alone, and some may be feeling lonely as we are dealing with this new normal of isolation and social distancing, but for those who trust God, there is help in His Word and through Prayer.

A few scriptures to encourage you

“… as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and of good courage …” Joshua 1:5-6

“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you,

I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

“The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.

The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in

From this time forth, and even forevermore.” Psalm 121:7-8

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
