Rise Up

This blog is probably the most heartfelt post that I have ever written. Honestly, I wasn't going to write anything today because I was in my feelings. I know that when you are given an assignment from the Lord, oftentimes, you will be misunderstood, mistreated, and sometimes left alone. I was so excited about the re-launch of 3rd Sunday Blessings because this new initiative is all about being a blessing, giving rather than receiving, and yet while it was an excellent show I was disappointed by those who didn't show up for me. I know that I have a giver's heart, and my daily prayer is for God to use me to show His love to others, but the life of a giver can be hurtful. So, yes, this morning I woke up in my feelings, BUT GOD. I am not an American Idol fan, but on Good Morning America they interviewed this year's winner JUST SAM. The interview left me in tears and I knew the Lord was speaking directly to me. Samantha Diaz aka JUST SAM is a 21- year old former subway singer from New York City. In the interview, she explained that while she was extremely grateful for this amazing opportunity, her journey has been difficult because she is alone. Samantha is quarantined in Los Angeles alone, away from her family in New York. Samantha and her sister were adopted by the grandmother when it became apparent that their mother would not be able to take care of them. Because of the pandemic, Samantha had to stay in Los Angeles alone in order to protect her grandmother. She explained while she was super excited each week when she and the other contestants advance to another level in the competition, but she said it was difficult watching them with their families. It was difficult because she was all alone. There was no one there to help her set up the lights, the backdrops, the mics. She had to do everything herself. So, to watch her give the interview this morning and to see the joy and the emotion her face as she recalled feeling alone, but now she is the winner American Idol 2020 JUST SAM. Yep, she has to walk it alone but she emerged VICTORIOUS. The Lord reminded me that your gift and your calling will cost you. It will cost you sleepless nights, it will cost you heartache and heartbreak, it will cost you tears, it will cost you lonely walks, but RISE UP ANYWAY. Maybe this message was just for me, but God is saying KEEP MOVING. God is saying, we are never alone because He promised to never leave us nor forsake us. He is always with us. God is saying as long as we continue to walk along the path that He has ordained for our lives we will always reach our destination. So, you may not get the support of your friends and family. RISE UP ANYWAY. You may not get a pat on the back, RISE UP ANYWAY. You may have to walk alone, RISE UP ANYWAY.
