Love One Another

“And so I am giving a new commandment to you now—love each other just as much as I love you. Your strong love for each other will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” John 13:34-35 Living Bible (TLB)

The day after Christmas. We must remember the same love that we showed yesterday, we need to share today. Share the love of Jesus with everyone that you come in contact with. A simple smile, a hug and a friendly word can change a person's entire day. We talk all the time about loving others; loving with words of encouragement, loving by acts of service, loving by giving money, loving by spending time. All of these loves are right and good, but they are incomplete if we do not share the greatest love the world has ever known, The Love that Jesus has for each of us. Share the love of Jesus today.

Today's prayer

Father, before we ask You for anything, we say Thank You. Thank You for every opened door, and for every closed door. Thank You for being the Author and the Finisher of our lives. Thank You for never leaving us or forsaking us. Thank You for Your Love. Jesus, You are the Author and Originator of love. We only know love because You are love and You loved us first. You love us specifically and sacrificially. You love us in our sin and rebellion against You. You love us despite the pain we inflict on others. You love us in our mess. It is that love - that selfless, self-sacrificing love, which allows us to love others. It is an overflow of Your love for us that allows us to love other people. Jesus, we ask you to make us better lovers of one another. Jesus, help us to see that we are Your love letters to a world desperate to be loved. We ask that You would show us that each one of our stories is valuable to Your kingdom and that You want to use us to spread Your love to the ends of the earth. Thank You for Your deep love towards us and thank You for sending Your only begotten Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ to suffer on the cross for our sake so that our sins could be forgiven. Lord, we know that we do not warrant Your love and yet You have showered unconditional love and grace towards us through Christ for which we praise and thank You. We pray that individually and collectively we may live godly lives in Christ Jesus and seek to encourage and edify one another. Thank You for Your Love. This is our prayer in Jesus' name, Amen.
