I Need You To Survive

Happy Monday!!! I pray that you enjoyed a wonderful but safe holiday weekend. I have to admit my heart was grieved to see some of the huge holiday gatherings with hundreds of people gathered in tight spaces, no one wearing masks, and no one practicing physical distancing. I wonder to myself, do these people realize that people are dying every day from COVID-19. Why aren't people taking this fatal disease seriously? Unfortunately, it seems that some won't adjust their behavior until the disease hits their house, so at this point, all we can do is pray. WE MUST PRAY. Then my heart was saddened again, by the acts of violence across our land throughout the holiday weekend. In Chicago, there were 79 people shot, 15 people killed included 2 children, In Atlanta, over 20 people shot, 5 people, killed and here in DC, an 11-year-old boy was shot and killed while watching the fireworks on Saturday. So much violence, unnecessary violence. WE MUST PRAY. Not only are we warring against this awful disease, but we must contend with senseless violence that is plaguing our cities. WE MUST PRAY.

"Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2, reads that we are to carry each other's burdens. No man is an island, we need each other. John 15:12 reads, "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." We are commanded to love one another and if you love someone, you will go out of your way to assist them and be a help, not to hurt or to do harm. We are to show the love of the Lord in all of our actions and deeds. We must strive to love others as Jesus loves us. The gospel artist, Hezekiah Walker had a song out several years ago, "I Need You To Survive" Some of the lyrics are

"I need you, you need me. We're all a part of God's body.

Stand with me, agree with me. We're all a part of God's body.

It is his will, that every need be supplied.

You are important to me, I need you to survive."

Believe it or not, things may get worst before they get better. Yes, I understand that all of the states are now open and things seem to be moving in a positive direction, but WE MUST PRAY. We must pray for God's grace and mercy. We must pray that God will heal the land. We must pray for those who don't have a relationship with the Lord, because the change that we need must begin from within. We must pray that God create in us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us. We must pray that we love each other and show kindness instead of anger and bitterness. WE MUST PRAY.
