Are You Ready To Be Loved?

Relationships are wonderful gifts from God. Not only are they meant to help grow God’s family on earth, create a support system to share burdens and experience the joy of partnership and family, but relationships are also an opportunity to grow more deeply in your faith and learn more about the very special person that you are, as God intended.

But, if you’re not taking the necessary steps to ensure you’re ready for a meaningful relationship, it is unlikely you will get the chance to experience the magic of a truly great friendship, love or marriage. You don’t have to settle for a mediocre relationship, and you definitely don’t deserve to be in an abusive or hurtful relationship. As I stated in the last two posts, before we can move forward with love for someone else, we need to ensure that we are whole and READY TO BE LOVED. It's not two halves make a whole, but rather two whole people come together making a strong union. You need to find wholeness in yourself and the Lord before you can expect to find the same in another person. The Lord is your anchor and your salvation from sin. Use Him when the storm of life threatens and you will be better prepared to serve as an anchor for a friend, sibling, child or spouse. Have you found wholeness through God? ARE YOUR READY TO BE LOVED? If you are expecting your relationship to fix you and make you whole, if you feel like a broken piece, just waiting to be fixed, I would dare say, YOU ARE NOT READY TO BE LOVED. Only God can give you completion and the wholeness that you seek. If you feel broken, consider praying to the Lord for true restoration that can only come through Jesus Christ. Only God can help you leave past hurts and past pains from previous relationships in the past where they belong and allow you to be free to LOVE. In order to BE READY TO LOVE, you must be free.

My godfather, Bishop Nelson ofter reminds us, " Our past does not determine our future." Yep, we have all made mistakes and had crazy relationships, but we must determine that we will learn the lesson and keep moving forward.

Philippians 3:12-14 The Message (MSG) Focused on the Goal

"I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back." The goal is to be free and READY TO BE LOVED. For those of us who are saved and believe that God orders our steps, now is the time to listen to His Spirit and allow Him to speak into your life more than ever before. Follow His instructions and He will lead you to the love you desire. The word of God says that "For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly." Psalm 84:11 King James Version (KJV) Finding love and entering into a relationship will shape your life in many ways. It’s a process that needs to be covered in God’s power, peace and perspective. Do yourself the favor by inviting God to be a part of it.
